Marvao, Portalegre, Alto Alentejo This area is a long established tourist destination for international and Portuguese tourists. The castles of Marvao and Castelo de Vide as well as some of the most spectacular countryside in Portugal make this a very popular area for visitors.

Land area of 34750 sq metres ( about eight and a half acres) The houses and other buildings are clustered in the centre of the farm. The whole farm is surrounded by granite stone walls. The front of the house looks directly to Marvao with spectacular views of the castle. Looking in the opposite direction are clear open views of Estremadura Spain (about 2km away).

The main house, built in granite is at least 300 years old. It has five bedrooms (one is at present used as a library). There is a large living room with old chestnut beamed ceiling, french doors opening onto a small balcony with spectacular views to Marvao, kitchen, and dining room. The main buildings are arranged around a gated courtyard behind the house.

Next to this is the Adega (wine store) with the original ceramic wine storage containers. Next to the Adega is a round house. This is believed to be the base of the Torre (tower) that gives the area and the farm its name. We use it as a wood store. Next is a stable and next to that is a large room that contains the bread oven. This and the stable could easily be converted to another 1 bedroom cottage. In front of the house is another good sized storage room and outside the courtyard but next to the cottage is another store room.

ALL the above buildings are granite and have been completely restored.
Apart from the main group of buildings is another building. It is laid out for another cottage, two bedrooms, living room, and large kitchen. it is at present used as an Atelier for kilns, woodworking etc. This building has many potential uses, fantastic views to Spain, and Marvao
